Preamble[edit source]

First of all, if you are new to wiki you should consider reading more about how to edit wiki.

Anyone can edit wiki pages, but you should consider registering an account. It will give you more wiki features (such as watchlist, a personal page and some personal stats, etc.), allow other to know who edit what (a name is always better than an IP address), allow you to keep track of your modifications and allow you to edit protected pages too (such as the main page).

How and where to start[edit source]

If you have something in particular in mind, you can edit or create the proper article. But if you want to help and don't know what to do, here is a list of where to look.

Add content[edit source]

A good way of finding missing pieces of the wiki is by taking a look at some special pages of the wiki which will give you automatically these informations.

  • Wanted pages : list all missing pages which are mentioned and linked in other articles.
  • Wanted files : list all missing files (usually images) which are used in articles.
  • Stubs : list all articles which are unfinished or too short to cover the whole subject.

Organize content[edit source]

Add information to the wiki is obviously a good thing but making those informations easily available is also important. As you may already know, a wiki is organized in articles which are themselves in one or more categories (or subcategory of another category, and so on).

If you want to improve the wiki navigation, there are also special pages for that.

  • Uncategorized pages : list all pages which are not include in any category.
  • Uncategorized files : list all files which are not include in any category.
  • Orphaned pages : list all pages that are not linked from other pages.
  • Wanted categories : list all categories which do not exist yet but already have some articles.
  • Broken redirects : list all redirection that lead to non-existent pages.
  • Double redirects : list all redirection that lead to another redirection, meaning that it could be simplified.

Talk pages[edit source]

Every wiki pages has its own talk page. This page is editable just like any article (find out more about Talk Pages). It is highly recommended to read the talk page before making a modification to the article.

You can also use it to suggest anything related to the article (or category), discuss about a possible change or about a possible mistake or even if you want to do something but don't know how.

Do not hesitate to leave a comment on those pages, soon or later someone will answer you. And it will probably help someone else to improve the wiki. And don't forget to sign your message with four tildes (~), to learn more about this please consult the Help:Signatures article.

History[edit source]

Every pages (article, category, talk pages, files, etc.) has an history, it helps to keep a track on every modification made. So don't worry if you make a mistake, it can always be reverted.

You can also use it to compare two different revisions of a page and know exactly what has changed between.

See Help:Page_history to know more about.

Templates[edit source]

Templates are a powerful system to simplify the re-use of a formatting system. It can be used for various things. For example you can use the {{Yes}} template to display Tango Tick1.png. Of course, more complex templates exist and allow for example to easily create an infobox for a creature or to nicely render a crafting recipe.

See the templates category to list every templates that can be used on Craft the World Wiki. There is also a list of wanted templates which will summarize all the templates that need to be created.

Editing or adding new template require some knowledge, if you do not know how to do it remember that you can always ask other users to help you. After all, wiki is all about helping. You can also learn more on how to create and use templates.
