|The octopus usually picks high places for nesting. If you attack her nest, she will aggressively defend her eggs.|
| Egg x2|
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Flying octopuses have no breeding system and will spawn randomly on the surface periodically to maintain a constant world population.
Flying octopuses are the Underground World equivalent of the hen though their behavior is vastly different. As their name suggests, flying octopuses can fly around the world, and will mostly remain out of reach of dwarfs attack.
Octopuses create nests, usually on higher places in the world. If dwarfs aproach such a nest, the octopus owning the nest will fly down and engage the dwarf, allowing the player to trap or kill the now-in-reach octopus. If trapped, an octopus can be fenced in a farm. Nests are tough and take a while to destroy, and will drop three eggs when destroyed.
Flying octopuses are an exception of semi-hostile creatures, as they attack dwarfs when these approach to nests, not waiting for being attacked like other semi-hostiles.
