A rune is a type of key used for opening doors found in underground secret rooms of all worlds.

Types[ | ]

There are 6 types of runes, all equivalent regarding the general game mechanics, but each type being distinct while socketing in it's specific slot.

Runes in-game are all called "rune", no matter their type. For convenience,[1] in this wiki, they were associated with letters, letters somewhat similar to the sign featured by each rune.

Rune door[ | ]

Rune doors have treasures inside and can only be open by socketing a specific combination of 3 runes required by the 3 random slots above the door. These slots are commonly filled with runes already placed on them, usually the wrong runes. Misplaced runes must be detached, in order to expose the slot's required rune. Once the entire set of three runes is well placed, the treasure vault opens and a lot of valuable items drop on the ground. Any rune well placed will shine and it's removal becomes impossible.

Rune doors are guarded by an ancient gargoyle and/or a mechanical guardian.

Tip: it's recommended to only place a rune on a door, if the player already have all 3 required runes for that door.

Acquiring[ | ]

Runes cannot be crafted or purchased. The only way of acquiring them is from drops and by removing the misplaced ones from the treasure doors in the ancient rooms.

Drops[ | ]

  • A guardian has 10% chance of dropping one of each type of rune.
  • A mechanical guardian has 10% chance of dropping one of each type of rune.
  • A Raid enemy may drop a rune when slain
